A Message for November.

Even with the highly volatile and more recent drop in oil and resource commodity prices, the Calgary commercial real estate market continues to be robust despite a US economic slowdown and a softening manufacturing sector in Ontario & Quebec. Calgary rental rates for industrial and office spaces have stabilized, but we do NOT forsee a decrease in asking rents for the remainder of 2008. Landlords are now offering tenant incentives to complete deals, something we have not seen for the past 2-3 years. Due to Alberta's strong long-term economic fundamentals, developers remain bullish which is manifested in WAM's recent announcement of StoneGate Landing, a mega development totalling 15 million sf of industrial and commercial space on 1200 acres just north of the airport. Exciting times continue.

CANAROPA moves to modern showroom facility
Calgary - Thursday, November 20, 2008: After 20 years at it old Airways warehouse, CANAROPA has leased a new 9,200 sf showroom and warehouse in Horizon Industrial. Canaropa's Calgary manager Shawn Brady states that "the company can now expand its hardware product lines, display them properly and have an efficient and lower cost warehouse operation to better serve its growing customer base. The move was long overdue, but now we have the capacity to grow the business more profitably". Canaropa's facility was built by Hopewell Development Corp. and leased by Ed Dorosz of Avison Young.
